VIDEO: Drought Impacting Avocados Farms; Prices Expected to Rise

By Michelle Mowad, Patch Editor

Avocados big day is game day - Super Bowl Sunday. The Huffington Post said Americans are expected to consume 79 million pounds of avocados around the championship game or roughly 158 million avocados, but the California drought is negatively impacting the crops.

The lack of rain is causing multiple and often costly complications—it is expensive to import water and imported water causes crop damage.
