Woodland Hills Native Brings Lifelong Passion to Wedding Photography Business

Karen Ard grew up in Woodland Hills and still lives in the neighborhood. She takes the time to answer a few questions about her business.

A local woman who grew up in Woodland Hills answers a few questions about her business Karen Ard Photography.

Patch:
When and how did Karen Ard Photography get started?

Karen Ard: I was born and raised in Woodland Hills and still live here. I was always interested in capturing images since I was 10 years old. I started working professionally as a photographer right after graduating from El Camino High School.

Patch: What's your business known for?

Karen Ard: I started as a editorial and commercial photographer but fell in love with Wedding and Mitzvah photography which is what I mostly shoot now.

I love capturing these events for my clients as it is always a special time in their lives and I feel like a historian for them. These are moments that I always want them to remember.

Patch: What's unique about your business?

Karen Ard: My clients always tell me they love the connection between people that I capture and they are often surprised with some of the images that I deliver because they didn't realize I was capturing a certain moment for them and they tear up reliving it. That's why I love what I do.

Patch: What's the best part about the neighborhood you are located in?

Karen Ard: I live a stones throw from where I grew up. My kids are going to the schools I went to and I often see my old friends around our Woodland Hills neighborhood. It makes me feel like I'm in a small town within this huge city when we keep these connections, support the shops that have been around since I was a kid and also embrace the new great businesses that are opening up.

Patch: If you could give your customers one piece of advice, what would it be?

Karen Ard: It's easy in this digital age to ask a friend or relative to take your photos but I honestly feel this is the one thing you don't want to skimp on. These captured moments will last long after the flowers, food and memories fade and will be the keepsakes that you will pass down through the generations.

Patch: How can people contact your business?

Karen Ard: karen@karenard.com
