The Adventurers’ Club of Los Angeles®
is a private gentlemen’s club, tracing its roots to Teddy Roosevelt and friends in a 1908 meeting. The Club was founded by Captain Jack Roulac in 1921, and was incorporated in 1922. It is dedicated to world-wide adventure – travel off the beaten path.


What kinds of space adventures are on the horizon?
What can we expect in the next 50-100 years? With the emergence of the commercial spaceflight industry, opportunities for space adventures will soon become a reality. Rides to sub-orbit, vacationing in space hotels, sky-diving from the stratosphere, visiting Mars and climbing one of the tallest mountains in the entire solar system... these are just some of the many adventures that are awaiting.

Also learn about how a proposal to finance the Mojave Air & Space Port would accelerate the development of the commercial spaceflight industry, and by extension, opportunities for space adventure.

Joe Weichman works at the Centers for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT), an advanced manufacturing initiative out of the California Community College Chancellor’s Office, Economic & Workforce Development Division.

Working directly for the Statewide Initiative Director, Mr. Weichman performs several functions, including identifying emerging industries and determining how California can maximize its economic share of those emerging industries.
Prior to this, Mr. Weichman was involved at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the Optical Communications Group, first as an intern and then under contract.
Mr. Weichman has a M.S. in Space Education from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and a B.A. from USC.

Flying to Space - Virgin Galactic
The CACT helps California manufacturers compete successfully in changing markets and the global economy. Through technology education, manufacturing training and services that contribute to continuous workforce development, the CACT provides expertise in technology deployment and business development. Services include onsite training, low-or-no cost technical assistance, and educational workshops, as well as information on how to qualify for state funds to assist with retraining employees and upgrading equipment.

The CACT also provides industry-specific reports on manufacturing & emerging industries, promotes STEM education through the development of recruitment tools & educational partnerships, and many other resources to help industry, educators, and students succeed in California.
