Woodland Hills Death Notices: Jan. 21 - Feb. 3

The following people with ties to Woodland Hills died in the last couple of weeks. Click their names to read full obituaries. 

Marilyn Carol Hayes Asplund: Resident of Simi Valley and a high school teacher for more than 35 years, most of that time spent at Taft High School in Woodland Hills. Passed away Jan. 25. She was 70. 

Dennis Patrick Cantwell: Raised in the Los Angeles area, he attended Crespi Carmelite High School, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1989. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, 11 a.m., at Saint Mel's Catholic Church in Woodland Hills. Passed away Jan. 27. He was 45.

Ursula "Jackie" McGill: This longtime Woodland Hills resident passed away peacefully at her home after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 2009. She was active in the Woodland Hills Republican Woman's Club. Passed away Feb. 3. She was 82. 

Margaret G. Schmerer: Having lived in Los Angeles County for 35 years, she was a homemaker and worked for Lord & Taylor in New York. She enjoyed playing bridge and volunteering at City of Hope. Passed away Feb. 3. She was 100.
