CHP Pursues Car on 101 Freeway During Rush Hour

The chase reaches speeds up to 100 mph.

A California Highway Patrol pursuit which began in Ventura County and continued south through the Valley via the 101 freeway Friday morning has ended in Hollywood.

According to the Ventura County Star, CHP officers originally attempted to pull over the male driver of a black Mercedes for reckless driving. A female was also reported to be in the car, according to information heard on the police scanner.

At times, the driver, who is now in custody according to City News Service, reached speeds up to 100 miles per hour, but at times slowed to 20 mph as the chase entered significant rush hour traffic in Sherman Oaks and Studio City.

Police blocked off southbound lanes for a short time while they took the car's occupants into custody around 9 a.m., reportedly near the southbound Gower Street exit in Hollywood.
