Police Arrest Suspected Car Thief

Police spotted the man in a Canoga Park neighborhood.

A suspected car thief was arrested just before midnight Sunday when officers sent police dogs into a two-square-block perimeter of a Canoga Park neighborhood, Los Angeles police said today.

Police spotted the man in his mid-30s in the stolen Honda and set up a perimeter at about 9:30 p.m., in the area of De Soto Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard, according to LAPD Sgt. Duane Aikins. The suspect was taken into custody without incident at about 11:45 p.m., Aikins said.

At the same time, Topanga station officers were working a crime scene in an unrelated physical assault case at Clark Street and De Soto Avenue in Woodland Hills, he said. The victim of the assault case was transported to a hospital and a suspect was not in custody, Aikins said.
