Triple Homicide Suspect May be Woodland Hills Man

Narada Brooks -- suspected of gunning down three men and wounding another at a Harbor Gateway -- is possibly from Woodland Hills.

A 28-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting three men and wounding another in the Harbor Gateway are of Los Angeles could be from Woodland Hills.

Narada Brooks was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Friday in La Habra by LAPD Robbery Homicide detectives, said LAPD Officer Sara Faden, adding she had no information regarding where Brooks lived or why he allegedly shot the four men.

The case is now being handled by RHD detectives because multiple homicides occurred and the RHD division can devote more resources to the triple murder case, Faden said.

An Internet search identified a Narada Brooks living in Woodland Hills who was formerly a resident of Decatur, Ga.

Faden said she could not confirm that information at this point.

However, at least one of the victims was also from Georgia, according to the coroner's office. That victim was 33-year-old Laurent Latty, of Jonesboro, Ga., according to coroner's investigator Joyce Kato.

Brooks was booked on murder charges and is being held without bail at LAPD's 77th Street Division jail, according to L.A. County jail records.

The coroner's office also released the name of two other murder victims: Dwayne Damion Cover, 33, of Torrance and and 44-year-old Courtney Murray, also of Torrance.

The name of the man wounded was not immediately released.

The wounded man was found a couple of blocks north of the first site, near Del Amo Boulevard and Western Avenue, and he was taken to a hospital, according to Officer Christopher No of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

LAPD Capt. Nancy Lauer told reporters the survivor was in serious condition and remained hospitalized.

All four men apparently knew each other, LAPD Sgt. Rudy Lopez said.

The shooting was was reported around 5:30 a.m. Friday in the 1600 block of West 205th Street, according to Los Angeles police.

"When police officers arrived, they found three individuals had been shot and killed inside the location,'' Lauer said. "A fourth individual was located by officers and transported to the hospital in serious condition.

"At this point, it appears that the individuals were inside the apartment when a dispute occurred, resulting in shots being fired.''

As a precaution, authorities escorted children from their homes to school Friday morning.
