Woodland Hills Week in Review: Hikers in Distress, Rec. Center Renovations
Here's a recap of other Patch stories you may have missed.
We hope you hop on Patch many times a day each day of the week. But we also know you're busy—so, in case you missed some articles this week, here are a few of our top stories:
- Not one, but two hikers were rescued on Castle Peak this week, one on Thursday and one on Saturday. If you're thinking about going on a hike, be aware that ticks in the Santa Monica Mountains have tested positive for Lyme Disease. You might also want to check out these hiking safety tips from the California Parks and Recreation Department.
- Speaking of Parks and Rec., there was a community meeting this week to provide an update and get input about the Woodland Hills Recreation renovation. The big news was a new pool will be part of the project.
- Crime in the area was up slightly this week, but not above normal. See the break down here.
- Mayor Villaraigosa gave his last state of the city address and got down on current mayoral candidates for not making education a larger part of their campaign.
- And finally, we linked out to an article in the San Bernardino Sun in which a Pierce College professor, along with others, says online courses shouldn't count for regular college credits. What do you think?
