UPDATE: Rescuers Locate Valley Circle Accident Victim

A car plunged approximately 200 feet into a canyon near Chatsworth Reservoir and Nature Preserve.

Rescuers have located the victim of an accident that ended with a car at the bottom of a canyon near 8751 N. Valley Circle Blvd. near the west end of the Chatsworth Reservoir and Nature Preserve.

The driver, a female who was able to walk away from the car, was taken to a local trauma center with minor injuries, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Early fire department reports indicated firefighters used night-vision goggles and high-powered lighting for the search. As well, a helicopter provided lighting on the heavily vegitated area, about 200 feet down from the road. [See KCBS video.]

The department reported rescuers first found a female purse and personal items in the car but were initially unable to find any people associated with the accident.
