Woodland Hills Man Gets 14 Years in Teen's Heroin Death

Brett Michael Cronin, 24, pleaded no contest to the charge that he supplied the drug to his younger brother's 13-year-old friend at a sleepover.

A Woodland Hills man was sentenced Monday to 14 years in state prison for furnishing heroin to a 13-year-old boy who died of an overdose last summer.

Brett Michael Cronin, 24, pleaded no contest on April 2 to the charge that he supplied the drug to his younger brother's 13-year-old friend at a sleepover last Aug. 8.

Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Karen Nudell dismissed related charges of murder and child abuse as part of the plea negotiated with prosecutors.

A Los Angeles Police Department statement released at the time of the boy's death said Topanga homicide detectives determined that Cronin bought heroin and injected himself and then injected the 13-year-old.
